课程简介
《英国文学史及作品选读》是英语专业专业必修课，在提升学生的外语水平和跨文化交际能力，培养学生正确的世界观、人生观、价值观、中国情怀和国际视野等方面起着重要的作用。本课程旨在使学生了解和掌握英国文学形成和发展全貌及其主要内涵；通过阅读具有代表性的经典作品，学会分析作品的艺术特色，掌握正确评价文学作品的标准和方法，提高文学阅读水平及文学批评能力；通过了解英国文学创作的社会背景和文学思潮及其它们之间的相互关系来把握文学作品的文化内涵，提高对英国文化的认知能力和跨文化交际能力；通过问题讨论等，增强学生的语言表达能力和思辨能力；使学生在问题的发现、讨论、探究和论证过程中感受成功的体验，激发学习的兴趣。本课程的最终目标是达到知识传授、能力培养和价值塑造三位一体的有机统一。
此课程2010年12月成为我校重点课程；2014年12月成为我校精品课程；2017年9月成为上海市教委重点课程（2019年5月验收结果为：优秀）；2019年6月成为“上海高校课程思政领航计划”精品改革领航课程；2019年9月成为学校一流本科建设精品在线课程；2021年1月成为上海高等学校一流本科课程。通过以上项目的建设，此课程在课程体系的建设、教学资源的充实、教学方法的改革、实践教学的加强、教学队伍的建设、教学效果的提高等方面已取得一定进步，教学内容和教学方法不断完善和提高。2023年6月被认定为第二批国家级一流本科课程。
