With the rapid development of health technology and the increasing demand for health care service, the importance of health technology in health system is becoming more and more important, and it is an important part of the health system. However, the utilization of health technology also faces the contradiction between technical efficacy and risk, the confusion of high-tech and appropriate technology selection, and the comprehensive balance of quality, cost and social ethics.
Health technology assessment is a young and energetic subject area. By integrating the evidence of the safety, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and social impact of various health technologies, it can provide means and tools for decision-makers to make evidence-based decisions. The objects of health technology assessment include drugs, devices, medical and surgical procedures and related support systems used in health care, such as information and management systems of medical institutions, etc. The content of health technology assessment covers the characteristics, safety, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, ethics and social impact of technology.
With the deepening of the reform of the medical and health system, the establishment and improvement of system and mechanism, the strategy of resource allocation, technology selection and utilization is becoming more and more important. Moreover, health technology assessment can effectively support decision-making through the cost-effectiveness, cost-benefits, safety and effectiveness evaluation. Health technology assessment has ushered in unprecedented development opportunities.
This course includes 9 main contents: health technology and its management, the concept of health technology assessment, the information retrieval of health technology assessment, safety and effectiveness assessment of health technology, economic evaluation of health technology, ethical assessment of health technology, health technology assessment and policy translation, international experience in health technology assessment, and related case studies in health technology assessment.
